He was born on May 4th 1959 in Vrh near Višnja Gora. He completed elementary school in Višnja Gora and finished Vocational Driving School, although his work on a farm prevented him from working in this field. He got married in 1983 – his wife and himself share three daughters and a son. At the 25-hectare farm, he engages in livestock (suckler cows), agriculture and forestry. He was elected president of the Agricultural Cooperative Stična in 1995, and remains in this position today. For two mandates, he acted as a member of the management board of the Cooperative Union of Slovenia. For two mandates, he was a member of the management board of the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia and was elected its president in 2012. He has been a national councilor for three mandates – he served as president of the Commission for Agriculture, Forestry and Food for two mandates. In November 2002, he was elected to the National Council as a representative of farmers for the first time. As he has spent all his life working on a farm, he is familiar with the issues of the field in their entirety. People who are active in the field appreciate his work primarily because of his concise performance which allows him to clearly describe problems, as well as to offer appropriate solutions.
