He was born on October 24th 1961 in Ljubljana, but spent his youth in Zdencka vas in the current municipality of Dobrepolje. Since 1983 he has lived in Kriška vas in the Municipality of Ivančna Gorica. He is married and father of three adult children. Professionally, he is a business secretary and was employed in Cestno podjetje Ljubljana (Road Company Ljubljana), Elementary school Dobrepolje, Slovenian Democratic Party and at the Municipality of Ivančna Gorica.

In his home town, he is an active member of the Voluntary fire-fighting society Kriška vas and of the Tourist society Polževo. His qualities of volunteering and charity work express themselves also in his work for the charitable institution Vrtnica for help to those in need, of which he was a long-time president, as well as in his work for the Association of Drivers and Auto-mechanics in Ivančna Gorica and the Basketball Club in Ivančna Gorica, which he helped found. While he used to be an active athlete in handball, he currently only engages with sports recreationally.

In 2016, he was awarded the Bronze Sign of the Civil Protection of the Republic of Slovenia.

He has extensive experience in work on a regional level. Among other things, he was a member of two councils of local communities, a member of the municipal council for three mandates, as well as a deputy member for six years. Since 2010, he has been serving as mayor of the Municipality of Ivančna Gorica.

He has been actively engaged in politics since 1994. Active political life has lead him to various activities and functions in the Slovenian Democratic Party, varying from the municipal to state level. He was also head secretary of the Party for 10 years.

He was a member of the State Election Commission for 8 years.

Since 2012, he has been a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, and was elected president of the Commission for Local Self-Government and Regional Development in the current mandate.


Electoral unit 22: municipalities Dobrepolje, GROSUPLJE, Ivančna Gorica, Kočevje, Kostel, Loški Potok, Osilnica, Ribnica, Sodražica.
