He was born on December 6th 1959 in Ptuj, where he currently resides. He is married and father of two children – Urša and Rok.

After elementary school, he continued his education at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University in Maribor. He graduated in 1983 in the field of automation and processing. In 1983, he was employed at the School Centre Ptuj. He participated in the preparation of requirements and introduction of the electrical engineering program in Ptuj. He worked as a teacher of professional and theoretic courses, as well as participated in development and reform of educational programs and introduction of new educational programs such as information science and mechatronics in Ptuj until 1996. Since 1996 he has been the headmaster of the School for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He led numerous developmental and applied projects for the reform of professional and vocational education in Slovenia. As part of the project PHARE in 2003, he led and participated in the development of the university program of mechatronics. His work on the founding of the vocational School Centre Ptuj, the program of mechatronics and the acceptance at the Professional Council of the Republic of Slovenia indicated the beginning of university level education in Ptuj. In 2005, he was habilitated as a university professor of courses in Measurements in mechatronics and Introduction to electrical engineering. He currently still teaches at the Secondary School.

Between 2005 and 2009 he was the president of the supervisory board of Elektro Maribor d.d.. In 2006 he underwent a training program for members of supervisory boards or members of boards of directors. In the 1990s he participated in managing a service company in the field of electricity and construction. He has broad experience in the field of construction investment management, which he utilized in managing investments in School Centre Ptuj.

He is a member of the Manager Club Ptuj and president of the supervisory committee. He was also a member of the Council of the Institute Bistra (Bureau for strategic development), a member of Revivis (Regional higher and high educational center), a member of the National Examinations Centre, a member of Elementary School Ljudski Vrt and student dormitories Ptuj.  He is also president of blood donors’ association of Municipality Ptuj.

At regional elections of 1994 he was for the first time elected to the municipal council of the Municipality of Ptuj, which led to the beginning of his work in the field or regional self-administration and regional development. He currently remains an active municipal councilor of the Municipality of Ptuj. In various mandates he was the leader of the Committee for Economy and a member of the Committee for Finance. Since 2007, he has been a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.

He is the recipient of the first-order Kidrič Award for his dissertation work of 1984, was recognized by the Regional Chamber of Craft and Small Business (OOZ) of Maribor for his work in integrating the educational sphere and commerce, and the recipient of the title Primus – honorary headmaster.

His hobbies include cycling, running, swimming, motorcycling, preservation of cultural heritage.
