Born: 3 October 1951, in Ljubljana.
He completed primary and grammar school in Ljubljana where he also graduated from the Faculty of Economics. Afterwards, he received a master's degree in business sciences from the Faculty of Business and Economics in Maribor. He is married, has two daughters and three grandchildren. Together with his family, he lives in a house in Forme at Škofja Loka. He has held the office of the municipal councillor in Škofja Loka for the fourth time. He was elected a National Council member on 21 November 2007 by the electoral constituency of Gorenjska (area of Kranj) and the President of the National Council on 12 December 2007 at the constituent session of the National Council.
Since the fall of 2005: After the expiry of his term of office of a deputy to the National Assembly, he was employed by the Lokainženiring company as a director for development, mainly engaged in the acquisition of complex investment engineering businesses in Slovenia and abroad. On a contractual basis, he cooperated with the Mercury International company as an international consultant in the field of executive staff professional development and the development of company's sales function.
Fall 2000 - fall 2005: In Škofja Loka in October 2000, he was elected a deputy to the National Assembly. Pursuant to legal provisions, he terminated his business activities and handed them over to the representatives. In the National Assembly, he covered economic-related issues. He was the vice-president of the parliamentary committee for the economy and the coordinator for the area of economy and finance in the deputy group of the Liberal Democratic Party, member of parliamentary committees for financial policy and monetary system, agriculture and the member of the Slovenian part of the Parliamentary Association Committee. He maintained links with local community of Škofja Loka through his deputy office in Škofja Loka and as a councillor in the Škofja Loka Municipal Council.
January 1998 - October 2000:In this period, he was an independent business consultant and an entrepreneur engaged mainly in project development and financing. His cooperation with Mercury International continued, namely in projects developing business performance (Telekom Slovenija, Luka Koper, NLB, Iskratel etc.).
Fall 1994 - January 1998: Acting as an entrepreneur, he was the permanent associate of the Slovenian Branch of Mercuri International Consultancy. In terms of quality and quantity of completed consultancy projects, he found it a considerable challenge to meet international standards and achieve sales goals. In this period, he developed relationships of Mercuri International with some key buyers, partners.
April 1989 - fall 1994:He was the Director General of Združeno podjetje Iskra Telekom, subsequently transformed into Iskra Telekom Holding d.d. The main goal of the executive team was to restructure and develop a group of companies formed on the basis of former Iskra Telematika. Between the years 1989 and 1993, he was also the Chairman of Iskratel Management Board (Telekom Holding and Siemens joint venture) and the chairman or member of a number of management boards of Iskra Telekom Group Companies in Slovenia, Germany and Turkey.
Fall 1984 - April 1989: He held a position of the commercial director and the member of rehabilitation team in Iskra Telematika. This organization was the largest telecommunication sector of Iskra which at the beginning of eighties encountered a deep programme and financial crisis. In this period, the organization managed to sign some major contracts for the supply of telecommunication equipment to the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Turkey. He was also the member of core negotiation team for setting up joint venture with Siemens.
Fall 1977 - fall 1984:In Iskra Commerce foreign trade company, he was employed as a commercial director for Asia and Far East. Later, at the request of Iskra executive team, he joined the rehabilitation team in Iskra Telematika Kranj. He succeeded in forming an excellent team which achieved significant business results (telecommunication and railway signalling system in Turkey, technological businesses for auto electrical products in Iran, export of electronic elements to Pakistan and Hong Kong).
